Plain-language summary
The extension reads only supported AI conversation pages required to provide its measurement features. It estimates tokens, task category, complexity and API-equivalent cost. Processing occurs inside the browser. Conversation text is not transmitted to Veritiana by default.
01
Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Veritiana AI Meter browser extension and the privacy information displayed on veritiana.com. It explains what information the extension processes, why it is needed, where it is stored and what choices are available to users.
The extension operates on supported AI services such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini when the user visits those services in a compatible Chromium-based browser.
02
Information processed by the extension
To provide the measurement feature, the extension may process the following information visible on supported AI conversation pages:
- User prompts and AI-generated responses visible in the active conversation.
- The AI provider and model name when they are visible or technically detectable.
- Estimated input, output and visible-context token counts.
- Locally derived task category, complexity and confidence values.
- Estimated API-equivalent cost calculated from configured model pricing.
- Technical records required to prevent duplicate measurement, maintain local history and operate extension settings.
The extension does not intentionally collect passwords, payment-card information, authentication cookies, private keys, health records or unrelated browsing history.
03
Why this information is processed
The information is processed only to deliver the extension's single disclosed purpose:
To measure and interpret the user's visible AI usage in the browser, including estimated tokens, task type, complexity, usage history and API-equivalent cost.
The information is not processed for advertising, credit scoring, employment decisions, profiling across unrelated websites or sale to data brokers.
04
Local processing and optional synchronization
Token estimation, classification and cost calculation are designed to run locally in the user's browser. Conversation content remains on the user's device and is not sent to Veritiana servers by default.
Where an optional synchronization feature is explicitly enabled by the user, only the categories of metrics described in the feature interface are transmitted. Veritiana does not transmit raw prompt or response text through optional metrics synchronization unless a future feature clearly requests separate, informed consent.
Supported AI providers process conversations under their own terms and privacy policies. Veritiana does not control how those third-party services process information submitted directly to them.
05
Browser permissions
The extension requests only permissions required for its disclosed functionality. Depending on the released version, these may include:
Site access
Used only on supported AI websites to identify visible conversation turns and display measurement badges.
Local storage
Used to store settings, local measurements, pricing configuration and extension state.
Offscreen processing
Used for local model inference where browser service-worker restrictions require an offscreen document.
Extension UI
Used to provide the popup, settings page and in-page usage indicators.
The extension does not use permissions to monitor unrelated browsing activity.
07
Storage, retention and deletion
Locally stored extension data remains in browser storage until the user deletes it through the extension, clears browser data or uninstalls the extension. The extension may provide controls for clearing local history and resetting settings.
Optional synchronized metrics are retained only for as long as needed to provide the enabled feature, maintain security and satisfy applicable legal obligations. Users may request deletion of server-side information associated with them by contacting Veritiana.
08
Security
Veritiana uses data minimization, local-first processing, restricted extension permissions and reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No system can guarantee absolute security, but the extension is designed to reduce exposure by avoiding unnecessary transmission of conversation content.
Users are responsible for securing their browser profile, device and accounts with supported AI providers.
09
User choices and privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, users may have the right to:
- Access information held about them.
- Request correction or deletion.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for an optional feature.
- Request data portability where applicable.
- Complain to a competent data-protection authority.
Users can stop all extension processing by disabling or uninstalling the extension.
10
Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure
Veritiana AI Meter's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs and browser-extension permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data access is limited to information necessary to provide the extension's prominently disclosed measurement features. Data is not used for personalized advertising, sold to third parties, used to determine creditworthiness or used for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
Children
Children's privacy
Veritiana AI Meter is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required by local law. Veritiana does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the extension.
11
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the extension, legal requirements or data practices change. The effective date at the top of the page will be revised. Material changes will be communicated through the extension, website or store listing where appropriate.
